At Livi Machinery, we are committed to providing innovative and efficient poultry farming solutions worldwide. Recently, we had the privilege of working with a client from Kenya to design a state-of-the-art poultry farm capable of housing 50,000 pullets (baby chickens) in modern battery cage systems. This article outlines the key features of the customized farm design we provided and how it meets the specific needs of our Kenyan client.
Client Requirements and Poultry Farm Specifications
Our Kenyan client approached us with a requirement for a high-capacity poultry farming solution that could support the rearing of 50,000 pullets. After careful consultation and a detailed assessment of their needs, we designed a facility that combines advanced automation, effective environmental control, and optimal use of space for maximum productivity.
Farm Layout and Size
The poultry house designed for the Kenyan farm measures 84 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and 3.7 meters in height, providing ample space for efficient poultry management. The design incorporates four rows of high-quality H-type pullet cages, each capable4 of housing up to 208 pullets per battery cage. This setup allows for a total of 252 sets of pullets cage units, with each row containing 63 sets of battery cages.
By multiplying the cage capacity by the number of rows and cages, we arrived at a total capacity of 52,416 pullets (208 pullets per cage × 4 rows × 63 sets of poultry cages per row), exceeding the initial requirement of 50,000 birds. This extra capacity ensures that our client can scale their operations as needed.

Battery Cage For Pullet Farming Specifications
The battery cage for pullet farming we provided are of premium quality, measuring 1200mm in length, 625mm in width, and 430mm in height per unit. Each of these cages is designed with four layers, allowing for an efficient, space-saving structure that ensures optimal growth conditions for the pullets. The cages are equipped with automatic feeding, drinking, and manure removal systems, making the farm highly automated and labor-efficient.
Automated Feeding, Drinking, and Manure Removal Systems
One of the standout features of this poultry farm design is the inclusion of automated equipment. The feeding system ensures that the pullets receive their required nutrients at regular intervals, improving feed efficiency and reducing waste. The automated drinking system ensures that each bird has constant access to clean water, reducing the risk of dehydration and stress.
Additionally, an automatic manure removal system helps maintain a clean environment for the birds, which is essential for their health and well-being. This system works seamlessly with the cage design to ensure that the manure is efficiently removed and disposed of, reducing labor and the need for manual intervention.
Environmental Control Systems
Environmental control is crucial to maintaining the health and productivity of pullets. In response to the climate conditions in Kenya, we designed an advanced climate control system that includes water curtains, exhaust fans, and side windows.
- Water Curtains: To combat the high temperatures commonly found in Kenya, we incorporated four water curtains measuring 3 meters by 2.5 meters each. Water curtains provide effective cooling by evaporating water, which helps reduce the overall temperature inside the poultry house, especially during hot seasons.
- Exhaust Fans: To ensure optimal airflow and ventilation, 12 exhaust fans (1.4m x 1.4m) were included in the design. These fans work to expel hot air from the poultry house, maintaining a fresh, cool, and well-ventilated environment for the pullets.
- Side Windows: The poultry house is also equipped with 70 side windows (35 sets, each 570mm x 280mm), which provide natural ventilation and allow for better air exchange, helping to regulate the internal climate.
These environmental control systems work together to maintain the ideal temperature and humidity levels within the poultry house, creating a comfortable environment for the pullets and promoting optimal growth and health.

Efficiency and Scalability
This poultry farm design not only meets the current needs of our Kenyan client but is also highly scalable for future expansion. The efficient use of space, automation, and environmental controls ensures that the farm operates with minimal human intervention, reducing labor costs and improving overall productivity. The farm is designed to handle up to 52,416 pullets, with the flexibility to increase capacity as the client’s business grows.
Conclusion
Livi Machinery is proud to have delivered a customized poultry farm design that meets the specific requirements of our Kenyan client. With a total capacity of over 52,000 pullets, advanced automation systems, and a carefully crafted environmental control system, this poultry farm design promises to provide a productive, cost-effective, and sustainable solution for large-scale poultry farming in Kenya.
