poultry Pullet Chicken Cages

Pullet chicken cage also known as brooder cage, it is designed for baby chicks from one day old to 7-8 weeks. This period is called the brooding period which lays the foundation for the subsequent feeding phase in the layer cages. As a typical brooder cage, the pullet cage can hold the chicks from the chick stage to the growing stage for about 90-100 days, and then transfer to the layer cage to lay eggs. This kind of chicken cage can improve the survival rate and brooding speed of chicks, and is the first choice for commercial poultry farmers to raise chicks. At the same time, the better the pullet grows, the higher the egg production rate will be in the future.

H type chick brooding cages

Baby chick brooding cages are usually also divided into A type chick brooding cages and H type chick brooding cages.

A type chick brooding cages are suitable for chicken farms with less than 25,000 chickens. Compared with H type chick brooding cages, it is a more economical choice. The manure cleaning system can be operated manually to save costs. Feeder also has a variety of options to reduce costs.

H type chick brooding cages can hold more chicks than A type chick brooding cages. It is especially popular with farmers who have limited building space in chicken house. The supporting chicken raising equipment must be automated in order to ensure the high efficiency of large scale chicken raising.

Advantages of Pullet Chicken Cages
chicken cages
reduce disease

Young chicks are small, difficult to survive, and require a more comfortable environment than adult chickens. The brooding cage can provide a stable and comfortable growth environment for the chicks, and provide the chicks with appropriate temperature, humidity, light, water and food.ect.

Save chicken feed

If the chicks are kept on the ground, chicken feed is wasted as the chicks run around. This is a huge loss for commercial chicken farming. When feeding in brood cages, the feeding trough is designed to prevent chicken feed from splashing. It can effectively improve the feed conversion rate.

Easy to manage
and control

Day-old chicks or young chicks are not easy to protect against diseases, so they are easy to control when they are placed in brooding cages. When the chicks are raised in brooding cages, the range of activities of the chicks is relatively small, and it is easier to control diseases.

The bottom net of the brooding cage is made of imported PP material, which is softer and less deformed. The chicks can stand comfortably, thus effectively reducing the occurrence of leg problems.

brooding cage drinking system

Drinking pipes and nipple drinkers in the chick brooding cage can meet the needs of chicks of different ages. As chicks increase in height, the brooding cage drinking system will be height adjusted throughout the chick-rearing process.

Tips for chick brooding cages

1. Feeding and drinking

Water cannot be cut off throughout the brooding period. In the first few days, tower drinkers can be used, and other forms of drinkers can be used at the age of 1 week, and the height is adjusted with the age of the chicken. In the first 2 days, the feeder feeding method was used, and then it was changed to feeding in a trough outside the chick brooding cage. Before 6 weeks of age, each chick needs a slot of 2.5 cm to allow it to eat freely.

2. Control the temperature and humidity

The temperature and humidity are very important for the survival rate and growth and development of chicks. The high or low temperature will affect the activity, feed intake, drinking water and feed digestion and absorption of the chicks, so a suitable temperature should be ensured at this stage. As the chicken grows, its ability to regulate body temperature increases, and the temperature is gradually reduced by about 2°C per week under controllable conditions; the temperature difference between day and night in the chicken house is controlled at 0.5°C to 1°C

3. Ventilation

Under the suitable temperature conditions of the chicken house, natural ventilation should be used as much as possible for sufficient ventilation. In colder seasons, underground air supply ducts and skylights should be used for ventilation to avoid cold wind blowing directly on the chickens. The air quality in the house should be free from dust and peculiar smell.

4. Reasonable lighting

Providing suitable light time and light intensity for chickens is an important measure to improve the growth rate and survival rate of chicks. The light in the chicken house should be evenly distributed, and the light intensity should also be changed from strong to weak during the entire feeding period.

5. Reasonable grouping

The activity area in the pullet chicken cage is limited, and the stocking density must be appropriate. If the density is too high, it will affect the growth and development of the chicks, so the density should be adjusted continuously with the growth of the chicks. The strong and weak chicks that appear should be grouped frequently, and the weak chicks should be raised in the upper cage.

6. Cleanliness and sanitation

To keep the pullet cage equipment clean and hygienic, the troughs and drinking fountains should be scrubbed and disinfected frequently, and the bottom net, the dung bearing plate and the entire chick cage body should be dismantled and disinfected regularly.
